NATURAL SODIUM NITRATE APPLICATION
SOLAR ENERGY:The thermal energy is stored consists of a molten salt mixture with a weight composition of 60% of sodium nitrate and 40% of potassium nitrate. The mixture is an excellent heat-transfer medium for solar-powered steam generators. The salts not only efficient at transferring heat, but are also ideal for storing thermal energy. The minimum nitrates concentration for the mixture of both salts shall be 99 weight percent. The maximum chloride ion concentration from all sources in the nitrate shall be 0.1 weight percent (for the mixture of salts).
EXPLOSIVE: Emulsified explosive production must first dissolve the water phase materials, it means to put the ammonium nitrate, sodium nitrate in water, heating and stirring, make it become saturated sodium nitrate solution. In this process, sodium nitrite in nitrate sodium nitrate is in full contact and reaction with ammonium nitrate and produce nitrogen. The amount of nitrogen produced is related with sodium nitrite content, melting temperature, stirring rate. When the sodium nitrite content is enough small, the Nitrogen gas rarely produced, and will naturally escape. When sodium nitrite content reaches a certain concentration, gas producing speed is greater than the air escape speed, many bubbles form, this is the NaNO2 foaming action. If the amount of foam generated too large, may result in aqueous solution from the melting tank overflow and effect the proportion of emulsion explosives raw materials. Sodium nitrate is one of the main ingredients of emulsion explosive, composition containing minute content of sodium nitrite(normally less than 0.02%, but occasionally appears higher). Sodium nitrite is foaming effect and sensitization of emulsified explosive, itself can be used as a sensitizer of emulsion explosives; In a sealed container, with the effect of the high-speed shearing emulsifier, bubble become into many small bubbles. Meanwhile water phase and oil phase emulsion formed colloidal viscosity, small bubbles are relatively stable in emulsion matrix, and reduce the density of emulsion matrix, increased the high emulsifying detonation sensitivity of the matrix of the explosion. Sodium nitrite in sodium nitrate is not used as sensitive agent. In emulsion explosive production process, for safety issue, the lower detonation sensitivity of emulsion explosive matrix the better, therefore, it requires sodium nitrite content in sodium nitrate as low as possible. According to the production practice and experimental data show that the content of sodium nitrite in sodium nitrite should be strictly controlled at below 0.02%, better below 0.01%.
FERTILIZER: Sodium nitrate properties: colorless transparent or white with a yellow diamond micro crystal, easy deliquescence, nitrogen content 15%~16%, quick acting fertilizer application on acidic soil, sodium ions will lead to improved soil alkaline after the nitrate being uptake by plants, it’s physiological alkaline fertilizer. Sodium nitrate application: suitable for tobacco, cotton and other dry plants, root crops, and sugar beet, radish crops those plants which like sodium ion. Sodium nitrate is more suitable for neutral or acidic soil, and is not suitable for saline alkali soil. Its application method:
1. Suitable for top dressing. After top dressing, Sodium nitrate can quickly dissolved in soil, dissociates into sodium ions and nitrate ions, nitrate ions can be absorbed by crops. But it’s better small amount of splitted top dressing, in order to avoid nitrate leaching.
2. In draught area, it can be used as base fertilizer, better deep dressing and mixed with other decomposed organic fertilizer, so the effect will be better.
3. The long-term application should use the sodium nitrate together with organic fertilizer or calcium fertilizer (such as calcium superphosphate) to prevent soil compaction.
